This weekend we celebrate the rebirth of Mother Earth and the first signs of Spring! We’re already at the midpoint between Yule and the Spring Equinox, a powerful solar alignment associated with the slow thawing of the earth and the anticipation of the return of Persephone from the Underworld! ;)
Friday (2/2): Today is the halfway marker between the Winter Solstice and Vernal Equinox— also known as Imbolc, Candlemas or St. Brigid’s Day. This is the time of year when we celebrate the lengthening of days and the gradual warming of the Earth, an indication that Spring is just around the corner! Symbolically, today is a day of renewal and rebirth! In line with this marker of springtime rebirth, today is also Groundhog’s day in the west, representing a somewhat unusual tradition where a very special groundhog predicts the weather for the coming 6 weeks.
No major planetary aspects. The Moon is in the pragmatic sign of Virgo throughout the day, making mostly positive aspects to Neptune, Pluto and Jupiter before going Void-of-Course late tonight at 12:07am MST. Early this morning, the grounded and practical nature of the Moon in Virgo will be challenged by an opposition to Neptune, giving the early morning hours a dreamy, romantic quality and making it difficult to integrate fully into the day. With a trine to Pluto followed by a supportive sextile to Jupiter late tonight, which will stimulate our emotional and intuitive sensitive while expanding on our optimism.
Saturday (2/3): The Moon is VOC throughout most of the day today, until it moves into the fair and equanimous sign of Libra at 2:47pm MST. The Void-of-Course Moon is not an ideal time to begin important plans and projects as things that are initiated during the VOC Moon are likely to simple fizzle out. If you feel resistance to getting the ball rolling this morning, try spending time in solitude and reflection or taking care of routine tasks— both of which are supported by this energy.
Mercury in the enigmatic sign of Aquarius comes into a supportive sextile with Mars in Sagittarius today, helping us to take all of the powerful new insights brought on by Mars in Aquarius and turn our expansive new plans into action! This is an excellent day for quick communication, thinking on our feet, and pushing boundaries and the intellectual status quo. This is also a time when we can start to see the results of energy that was seeded the last time Mercury came into conjunction with Mars in mid-September of 2017, so thinking back to that time can give clues as to what may come up during this speedy, fleeting aspect today.
Venus in Aquarius comes into a hard square with Jupiter in Scorpio today, amping up the energy surrounding relationships, pleasure, finances and self-worth. My experience with this aspect has shown me that it often causes people to set unrealistic expectations for partnerships and financial endeavors, which inevitably leads to frustration and disappointment. This is also a time when people may become more prone to impulsive or excessive spending on luxury items as we may feel much more self-indulgent at this time. On the plus side, this energy does have us feeling much more lighthearted and optimistic, and can easily be utilized for a bit of leisure and self-care so long as we are careful not to go overboard.
Sunday (2/4): No major planetary aspects. The Moon is in its disseminating phase in Libra today and makes a beneficial trine to Mercury overnight, merging our analytical minds with our feelings and intuition, and allowing communication to flow more harmoniously.
Have a beautiful weekend! Be sure to check back on Sunday for the weekday forecast! :)
