December 2021 Astro-Highlights: Get Ready For The GRAND FINALE!

We close out both the Solar and Gregorian year with several major shifts in the astrological energy. Not only are we entering into the Grand Finale of a year-long square between Saturn and Uranus, but we’re also experiencing our LAST eclipse in Sagittarius that we’ll experience for roughly nine years! This is a massive point of release, where the frustrations that have been building all year long finally come to a head and the karmic patterns and cycles from our past are about to unravel. 

Venus in Capricorn brings another powerful energy into the mix, causing us to reflect on the relationships in our lives that are the strongest and most loyal. We’re looking for depth in our connections right now while more shallow, fleeting relationships are about to be purged. 

Finally, we end the year with the Great Benefic planet Jupiter moving into its home sign of Pisces once again, instilling a newfound sense of hope and optimism amidst a good amount of unsettled energy and collective change.

New Moon Total Solar Eclipse in Sagittarius

This TOTAL Solar Eclipse in Sagittarius is LAST Solar Eclipse we’ll experienced aligned with the South Node in this sign for roughly 18 YEARS. That means this is our LAST chance to shed our old skin, release old karmic cycles, and unravel unnecessary patterns that are holding us back from moving on to a fated new path more aligned with our purpose and destiny! 

It sounds like a big deal, and that’s because it is! We’re in for a fated, cosmic reset this winter! 

 Sometimes we need to go backward in order to move forward, and with this eclipse that truly may be the case. With the South Node involved, we may be forced to retreat into old ideologies, old philosophies, and old wisdom gained from our past experience in order to propel ourselves in a new direction.  

Along that same note, eclipses with the South Node often bring old relationships, situations, and experiences back into our conscious awareness in order to be re-integrated or resolved. With this eclipse in a tight conjunction with Mercury, messages tied to our past reflect the “reset” taking place and help us to discern between what’s worth bringing with us into the future and what’s leaving us feeling stuck or unsettled. 

Pay close attention to the signs, synchronicities, and new connections that feel all-to-familiar near the time of this eclipses. These experiences take on a greater importance throughout this period. 

Mars enters Sagittarius

Mars in Sagittarius is stirring up some intense energy, making an exact conjunction to the karmic South Node shortly after it changes signs on December 15th. This is a MAJOR eclipse activation that will separate us from old, harmful cycles and patterns once-and-for-all. Endings that occur right now are both rapid and final. The South Node is about to leave Capricorn for good in just a few weeks, which means this could be our last chance to ditch outdated beliefs that are holding us back from embracing a fated new path more aligned with our destiny. 

Mercury enters Capricorn

I hate to break it to you, but Mercury is about to be moving into another shadow period, with the planet of communication preparing to go retrograde at the start of the New Year on January 10th! The pre-shadow begins on December 29th, which means it’s best to get all of our last-minute 2022 plans in a row sooner than later. 

Mercury in Capricorn cultivates conversations that are stern and straight to the point. With a trine to Uranus in the mix, it’s time to get serious about new, innovative ideas we’ve been holding off on exploring for far too long.  

Later in its transit, Mercury will make three conjunctions to Pluto in Capricorn, activating the Pluto-Eris square. The truth will be revealed at the start of 2022 in a BIG WAY. The writing on the wall will be right in front of our faces, impossible to continue to ignore. If we choose not to take action on these new revelations, things could get quite uncomfortable.  

Full Moon in Gemini

This Full Moon in Gemini is as abundant as it is confusing. With a harmonious trine to benefic Jupiter in the mix, our minds and our emotions become vast and expansive—now is a time when we may feel like we’re “on to something,” or we may connect with others to create massive social movements or to brainstorm big ideas! 

Neptune in Pisces makes a T-Square to the New Moon, indicating increased emotional and psychic sensitive and a bit of confusion. Something’s being illuminated at this time that may benefit the greater good, but are we truly seeing the path that’s unfolding for what it is, or are we simply seeing what we want to see? 

Overall this Full Moon is an excellent energy for collaboration, networking and socializing. This would be an excellent time to plan a holiday party or a get-together to bounce ideas off of some friends. This is a “feel good” energy amidst a lot of transition and intensity, so take advantage of it while it lasts! 

Venus Stations Retrograde

Whichever house is occupied by Capricorn in your chart is about to undergo a crucial period of re-balancing, re-harmonizing and transformation. This is because Venus will be going RETROGRADE this holiday season—an event that only occurs roughly once every 1.6 years! 

Venus rules relationships and, when the planet of connection is moving backward in the skies, old relationships from the past may come back around to be revisited and new connections that are made are almost never what they seem to be. 

With Venus having a strong connection to our self-worth, hidden feelings of being unlovable, undesirable and unworthy of affection can creep to the surface for those who are being impacted more directly—use this time as an opportunity for healing.

Today is the shortest day of the year here in the Northern Hemisphere (and the longest for those south of the equator)—a time to turn inward and reflect on everything that’s transpired in the last Solar Year. This is also the most optimal time to set new intentions for the upcoming year, rather than waiting for January 1st when the timing is a bit off kilter!  

The Sun’s transit through Capricorn is extra-special this year because retrograde Venus will make an exact conjunction with the Sun at the start of the New Year. On January 8th the Sun helps illuminate powerful revelations about what we truly need, want and desire in order to create balance and harmony in the areas of life being most strongly by this retrograde.

The on-again, off-again square between Saturn and Uranus is back in FULL FORCE this holiday season. This frustrating year-long influence has been causing us to have to pivot, take two steps forward, then three steps sideways, hesitate and then accelerate at lightening speed all. year. long. 

On the one hand, we might be feeling bored and frustrated with our current circumstances, craving MASSIVE change. On the other hand, we may block ourselves from making progress due to rigid adherence to dogmatic viewpoints, scientific thinking or adherence to mainstream, popular opinion. 

When the blockages and barriers don’t come from within, they’ll appear from without in the form of rules, regulations and responsibilities that we must take into account before moving forward to take action.  

In either case, this could be our last chance to set things right and make adjustments to our foundations in order to create a platform for greater freedom moving forward.  

Jupiter enters Pisces

Jupiter will be moving into its home sign of Pisces once again, re-connecting us to the more optimistic and compassionate energies we experienced for a brief moment in time mid-2021. This time around, Jupiter will come into an exact conjunction with Neptune in April, a magical energy that could cause us to feel elated with hope and idealism. 

Jupiter in Pisces brings good fortune to projects and plans centered around compassion, charity, equality, and spirituality. While this is a great influence for deep, spiritual study, some people may take things a bit too far, using religion as a means for escape from normal reality. 

The potential downfalls of this influence are increased martyrdom and the expansion of “victimhood” as a virtue. The “Savior Complex” becomes a bigger issue as well, causing many people to have delusional beliefs about being rescued by prominent gurus, religious figures, or the judicial system.  

That being said, Jupiter in Pisces will primarily be filled with blessings, instilling a newfound sense of optimism and allowing us to transcend our normal patterns of thinking and belief.
