JULY ASTRO-HIGHLIGHTS: TWO WEEKS OF TURBULENCE!

This month begins with some of the most turbulent, disruptive energy of the ENTIRE YEAR! Mars in Leo is forming a fixed T-Square with Saturn and Uranus, activating the year-long face off between the planet of restriction and the planet of liberation! Things are about to get interesting, to say the least!  

This energy brings unexpected challenges and hurdles that demand immediate attention and change. As frustrations mount and the energy reaches its boiling point during the first half of this month, expect to see people all around you making hasty, impulsive changes! 

Later in the month, after the New Moon in Cancer on July 9th which ushers us out of eclipse season, things begin to calm down and level out a bit. Toward the end of this month, the “Great Benefic” Jupiter retrogrades back into Aquarius for the last time in 12 years! This brings a final chance to re-visit and take advantage of opportunities from the past that will most certainly be coming back around!

 This New Moon in Cancer is brining in a beautiful, compassionate and intuitive energy during a period when many of us are feeling frazzled. This is a great time to turn inward for some self-love and self-care. Because this lunation is likely to have us feeling extra sensitive, some down time to do the things we love most with the people in our lives who support us the most is highly recommended. This particular New Moon is in the highly empathic sign of Cancer, making a trine to Neptune in Pisces, making this an optimal time for us all to use out imagination a bit more and visualize our idealistic future plans.

Venus in Virgo makes us far less likely to partake in grand, romantic gestures BUT this transit compels us to show up in service in practical ways to help the people we love most in the ways they need it most! Helping your partner with the dishes or providing support by taking on extra daily tasks to give your lover a bit of a break isn’t the sexiest way to show someone you care but, with Venus transiting the pragmatic sign of Virgo, it will certainly be appreciated!

 Leo Season is officially here! When the Sun moves into its home sign of Leo where it’s most comfortable and supported, it’s time to rejoice! Optimism, enthusiasm, and passion are at an all time high as we become more active in pursuit of our purpose and our overall success! That being said, this year the Sun will be making some rather precarious transits to the ongoing Uranus square to Saturn, illuminating a hidden source of frustration that’s been eating at us all along without our full, conscious knowledge. Luckily, the Sun won’t make these transits until August, so we have a bit of time before things really heat up and we’re required to make yet another “pivot.”

 Thankfully, this month’s Full Moon in Aquarius isn’t activating the Saturn/Uranus square by exact degree (I think we’ve had more than enough direct activation of this particularly frustrating aspect already this Summer—although there’s still a little bit left to come). That being said, this Full Moon is still dancing with this disruptive energy we’ve been dealing with all year—bringing the culmination of frustrations and roadblocks all the while forcing us to reluctantly plunge forward with major changes before we feel fully prepared to do so.  

The Full Moon in Aquarius is an excellent time to take stock of how far we’ve come in breaking free from old systems and paradigms in our lives that are no longer useful. This is also a moment in time where the progress we have yet to make in this area will be illuminated. Thinking back to the events of this year so far, where have you broken free from restrictive energies that clearly serve no purpose any longer, and where have you been holding on for dear life to long withstanding but outdated energies due to fear of the unknown? Answering these questions will do wonders in helping you to FINALLY move forward to fully embrace the change that’s so desperately needed in your life.

Jupiter in retrograde prompts us to re-visit old opportunities we thought we had missed to expand on our ideas and ideals along with important material foundations and structures in our lives when paired with Saturn. While this can be an optimal time to re-embrace old areas of growth, it can also be a time where we may have to reflect on where we’ve expanded on the wrong things or taken things a bit too far. Jupiter in retrograde promotes internal growth over the external and asks us to insure that the growth and opportunities we’ve aligned ourselves with are truly connected with our integrity.

That being said, having the planet of action and willpower in the sign of service isn’t always a bad thing! Now is a time when people will be motivated by the pursuit of perfection AND the desire to benefit those around us in ways that are both grounded and efficient. With Mars transiting the sign of precision and refinement, now is an excellent time to take action to perfect something in our lives that has been carelessly executed for far too long!
